Giro d’Italia 2008 on Mount Kronplatz!

26th May 2008

Also 2008 the bike-pros participating at the Giro d’Italia bike-race will come to South Tyrol. The absolute highlight of the entire race will be the mountain time-trial from St. Vigil to Mount Kronplatz (2273 m abs) the 26th May 2008.

Two years ago the single track cycling event on Mount Kronplatz had to be cancelled because of the heavy snowfall (in May!). We hope that this time everything is alright for this 16th stage race of the Giro d’Italia in South Tyrol to Mt. Kronplatz.

Every year the Giro d’Italia organization committee valorizes the mountain-races with challenging stage races in the Dolomites. And the mountain time-trial event Mount Kronplatz is surely one of the most demanding: there are uphill grades about 24 %, the difference in altitude comports 1080 m and the last hundred meters have to be done on a small dirt road. The 16th single track event of Giro d’Italia 2008 is short with 13,7 km but pretty challenging, too.

The single track events of Giro d’Italia in South Tyrol belong without doubt to the king-stage of the biggest bike-event in Italy. Have fun looking the races!
