Gustav Mahler Music Weeks 2008 in Toblach
The Gustav Mahler Musik Weeks this year will take place from July 12 till August 8. Read here about the highlights of the Mahler Music Weeks and the programme of the famous music event in Toblach.
This year the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks celebrate the 100 years of the masterpiece "Das Lied von der Erde" that Mahler, written in 1908 during one of his stays in Toblach.
The artistic director of the festival, Dr. Josef Lanz, has promised to the public a varied program with concerts and conferences.
The festival opens Saturday, July 12 with a concert of the Bavarian Symphony, accompanied by the Bach Choir of Monaco of Bavaria and directed by Hansjörg Albrecht. In the programme, the original version of "Das Klagende Lied" by Gustav Mahler.
Do not miss absolutely the concert on July 19 in the house of composition in "Carbonin Vecchia", where Mahler composed the famous Lied von der Erde.
Thursday, August 7 Gaston Fournier-Facio will present new biographies of Donald Mahler written by Michell and Henry-Louis De La Grange.
The closing concert will be held Friday, August 8 with the "Deutsche Bundesjugendorchester" directed by Jac van Steen. Programme: "Das Lied von der Erde."
Interested in the concerts are also the neighbouring countries of Sillian, Niederdorf, Innichen and Welsberg.
