International Choir Festival of Alta Pusteria
The "Alta Pusteria International Choir Festival" is a non competitive musical event which takes places in Hochpustertal Valley in South Tyrol during the last week of June. This year the festival takes place from 25th - 29th June 2008.
It is organized by "Associazione Flaminia 2000" of Rome in cooperation with "Consorzio Turistico Alta Pusteria" and supported by all the tourist associations of the valley.
More than concerts
CONCERTS during concerts, two to four choirs make their performance; they are scheduled during the whole day and take place not only in churches and concert halls, but also in Alpine huts, music pavilions and castles.
OPEN AIR REVIEWS are open air concerts, in which five to eight choirs perform. Each Review is dedicated to a specific choral genre and takes place in a natural particularly evocative context, typical of Val Pusteria. For the beauty of the natural scenery and the number of performing choristers, Reviews are, together with the great “Choirs’ Parade”, the most spectacular event of the Festival.
Besides the Reviews, the festival offers some other important open air exhibitions:
“Cori in Piazza” are concerts taking place in the historical centres of the valley, inside pedestrian areas. “Choirs’ Nights" are night performances taking place in the towns’ squares, after evening concerts.
MEETING-DAYS scheduled in the biggest halls of the valley, they represent, artistically speaking, the highlight of the Festival. During these concerts, eight to twelve choirs perform, on after the other, grouped together depending on the belonging section.
