The witches’ dance on Würzjoch pass

The diabolical time has come again and brings fear and scare to the Würzjoch Pass and the Mount Peitlerkofel area in the Dolomites. At 19th July take place the “witches dance”.

In the Peitlerkofel area the people believe for long time in witches and demons. The big mountain peaks, black rocks and many fogs made the territory very uncanny. Farmers believed that witches live here.

At 19th July the “witches” rise from oblivion and show their dances and tell their stories. Children and parents enjoy theater pieces, music, farmers markets and typical specialties and learn more about legends and culture of the Würzjoch and Peitlerkofel area.
